In 1960 Janet Leigh made film history during her now iconic murder shower scene in Albert Hitchcock's "Psycho." Nearly 55 years later, her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis recreated the famous scene for an upcoming episode of Ryan Murphy's new show "Scream Queen."

Curtis was no stranger to the horror genre and got her start in 1978 with the slasher movie "Halloween." The actress tweeted a black-and-white photo of herself in the same horrified pose as her mother in "Psycho."

"Recreated Mom's PSYCHO shower scene 4 a special ep of @ScreamQueens," Lee Curtis wrote on Twitter.

"My entire life I have refused to step into the shower because it belongs to my mother," she told Variety. "I have attempted to step out of the shadow of my parents for a long time. It felt like they're both gone, and enough time has passed. This role has appeared in my life. It's unexpected and delightful."

"Scream Queens" also stars Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd, Skyler Samuels, Glen Powell, Diego Boneta and Keke Palmer. The dark comedy booked several big names as guest stars including Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

"Scream Queens" premieres Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
