MTV announced that hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj will open the 2015 Video Music Awards ceremony with a performance, reported Variety. Minaj is the latest entertainer to be added to the awards show's star-studded lineup.

"@NICKIMINAJ will be performing at the 2015 #VMAs this Sunday at 9/8c for the second year in a row," MTV announced Thursday via its Twitter account.

Minaj teased the big news by posting a photo of a sonogram on Instagram, but an MTV Moon Man stood in place of a baby. MTV re-posted the photo and, after the announcement was made, Minaj tweeted, "VMA rehearsals were fun."

The female rapper will join previously announced performers like Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and more. The awards will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles Sunday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m.

This marks Minaj's third VMA performance. During the 2014 VMAs, she performed "Anaconda" and, with Jessie J and Ariana Grande, the smash hit "Bang Bang." During the latter performance, Minaj suffered a wardrobe malfunction when her black dress ripped open in the front, forcing her to scale back on her onstage movements while she held the fabric in place.

Miley Cyrus, who is hosting the 2015 ceremony, slammed Minaj during a recent interview with the New York Times. Cyrus weighed in on the female MC's Twitter rant after she realized she was snubbed for the Video of the Year award. Her tweets led to a back-and-forth between Minaj and Taylor Swift, as previously reported by HNGN. Cyrus said Minaj's outburst was indicative of her true nature.

"What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind," Cyrus told the New York Times. "It's not very polite."
