If you've been on Instagram at any time over the last year or so, you've probably noticed actor Tyrese Gibson ("Fast and Furious 7") campaigning hard for the role of Green Lantern John Stewart. During San Diego Comic Con earlier this month, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment officially revealed the planned reboot title to be "Green Lantern Corps," seemingly confirming the rumors claiming that both Green Lanterns Jon Stewart and Hal Jordan would be teaming up for the franchise.

Actor Chris Pine has long been linked to the role of Jordan, though nothing is official yet. Gibson, meanwhile, confirmed (via Collider) that he has indeed met with Warner Bros. about the role.

"I've already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we'll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that's not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there's a fanbase out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can't. We'll just keep following up."

This may come as a disappointment to some fans who wanted "Arrow" star David Ramsay to nab the role. But Warner Bros. has maintained that their TV and film universes remain separate.

"Green Lantern Corps" is scheduled for a 2020 release; however, the character(s) are expected to play a significant role in Warner Bros.' upcoming two-part "Justice League" series in 2017 and 2018. To date, the Green Lantern characters are the only members of the super powered team yet to be cast.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role from "Man of Steel" as Superman in next year's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." "Dawn" will also feature the big screen debuts for Ben Affleck's Batman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher's Cyborg. It is also rumored that Jason Momoa's Aquaman and Ezra Miller's Flash will be making some type of cameo appearances in the film.

So, Warner Bros. and DC, anytime you guys are ready, just let us know who will be taking up the Green Lantern mantle. Everything else is already in place.
