Everyone rightfully went nuts over the new trailer for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" that dropped last weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. But once the excitement died down and we were able to re-watch the trailer with more objective eyes, we noticed something a little...peculiar.

The trailer features the Dark Knight decked out in desert gear at one point, seemingly infiltrating some type of compound occupied by the soldiers who wear Superman shield patches on their uniforms. These are the same armed individuals we saw bowing to Superman in the first teaser trailer. But go and re-watch this part of the trailer a few times because it kind of looks like, gulp, Batman kills one of them.

Comicbook.com first noticed that at the 2:40 mark, Desert Batman appears to snap one of the soldiers' necks. Of course, he may simply be incapacitating a violent combatant and not, you know, ending his life. But the visuals sure point to the latter.

If true, this would be a stark departure from previous Batmans (excluding the earliest versions) who stuck to a strict no killing policy. Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy made Batman's non-lethal approach a strong point of emphasis (though he did leave Ra's al Ghul to die on that crashing train, but that guy totally deserved it). Break bones, torture, emotionally scar? Sure, all of that is in Batman's wheel house. But murder?

Remember, we also saw the Batwing laying waste to some armored cars in the first teaser trailer. During that exchange, it's almost a guarantee that the unprotected enemies would have been killed in the fiery inferno. Could it be that Ben Affleck's grizzled, worn out and guilt-ridden Batman has resorted to killing as a last ditch effort to do what he believes is right? Or are we looking way too much into this fight scene (which may or may not even be real)?
