Witnesses reported sightings of escaped prisoners David Sweat and Richard Matt in two separate incidents since the men matched the descriptions of the convicts who escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York on June 6, resulting into a massive manhunt, Associated Press reported.

Sweat and Matt were seen near a rail yard in Erwin, N.Y. on June 13. Aside from that, they were also spotted in the town of Lindley near the border of Pennsylvania, 17 miles away from the first spot, reported ABC News.

Said areas are about 300 miles from the prison they escaped. Police confirmed that the descriptions of the witnesses whom they interviewed matched the descriptions of Sweat and Matt. Authorities have also scoured surveillance footage, though it is said to be inconclusive.

The possible sightings from separate people, were not reported until June 16. Aside from the arrest of Joyce Mitchell who allegedly provided tools to the convicts, a corrections officer was also placed on administrative leave on Friday, related to the investigation.

The manhunt of Sweat and Matt continues and will not stop until they are captured. The search has extended to the Mexican and Canadian borders as well .
