Ariel Winter announced Friday that she has finally been legally emancipated from her parents, ending years of custody drama with her mother.

The "Modern Family" star took to Twitter to reveal to her 300,000+ followers of her delight at being granted full emancipation, wherein she will no longer be under custody of either her parents or guardian despite being under 18, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The 17-year-old also thanked her sister Shanelle Gray, who has been her official guardian since 2014, and her father Glenn Workman, who has been in charge of all her finances.

"I really couldn't have done it without them. Thank you to all of my family, friends, and fans who have supported me through all of my endeavors in life, and have encouraged me. Thank you for making my life so special! I can't wait to embark on my new adventures," she wrote.

Winter has been embroiled in a battle against her mother Chrisoula Workman since 2012, with the star claiming that she had been suffering from physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother. Gray then filed for custody of Winter in December 2012 and was subsequently declared as her permanent guardian in 2014.
