Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been sentenced to death.

The jury in his case unanimously voted in favor of capital punishment on all 17 charges that carried the death penalty, it was announced on Friday.

Tsarnaev, who was 19 years old at the time of the bombings, cracked his knuckles multiple times and did not make eye contact with the jury during the readings, according to CNN. After the judge read the final decision, death by lethal injection, Tsarnaev did not show any emotion.

The decision came 14 and a half hours hours after deliberations began. The announcement was made at 2:30 p.m. by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

"We hope that the completion of this prosecution will bring some measure of closure to the victims and their families," United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch said.

Tsarnaev was charged with 30 counts last month. According to CNN, many survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings, as well as supporters and family members of Tsarnaev, were in the courtroom when the verdict was read.
