Google posted on Friday that its new compose window will be the default option for Gmail users. You can see for yourself by visiting Gmail; don’t get upset if you don’t spot it, the roll-out has just started and is not ongoing “over the next few days.” Google confirmed with TNW that in time, the new compose will wholly take over and the old compose will no longer be offered.
In October 2012, the feature was first introduced. Since then, the “new compose experience,” as Google names it, has received a few upgrades in response to user opinions. Users can send messages and files with Google Drive and use the new reply option. Google has also added support for originally missing features like starring and labeling.
It pops up over your Gmail inbox, that what makes this view predominantly useful. This means you can type your message while viewing all of the relative information from other messages. Moreover, profile pictures of your friends or contacts appear as you type addresses, helping you to visually classify them faster.
The new compose view also shows up when you respond to messages. The new reply window balances the content inside to let you see as much of your recipients and controls, even if you have a lot to say.
Some users have gotten used to, or simply prefer how Gmail worked before, because not everyone will like the new compose and reply windows, that’s a given fact. If you have chosen the new view but want to go back to the old experience, here’s what you’ve got to do.
• Click “compose” at the bottom corner of the message panel
• Click the “more” menu icon
• Select “Temporarily switch back to old compose”
Google is flaunting the following features especially for these people:
• Fast: You can write messages right from you inbox
• Simple: redesigned with a fresh, sleek look.
• Powerful: You can check e-mails while typing, lessen drafts for later, and even create two messages at once.
