Jay-Z recently made an appearance at NYC's popular hip-hop radio station HOT 97 for an impromptu interview, answering questions on everything from fatherhood to fears of failure and of course, his beloved Brooklyn Nets. The rapper also complimented Miley Cyrus, who he referenced in one of his songs off his new album, "Magna Carta Holy Grail," missinfo.tv reports.

In the personal and in-depth interview, Jay admitted that his parent's divorce still leaves him with an empty feeling.

"They were together my early years, till I was 9 or something," he said. "That's what made it worse - 'cause I knew. Some people don't even get to feel that sort of love at all so you can't miss what you don't have. It's still this empty feeling. There's more of an empty feeling having it then having it taken away from you."

As for his own marriage to Beyoncé, whom he now has a one-year old daughter with, things are going well, though navigating fatherhood can be tricky. "[It's] just more reaffirming the things that's really important in life and editing your life in such a way that you don't have anything that's distracting you," Jay told interviewer Angie Martinez. "Anything that's taking away from that time you should be with your child." He added that his daughter, Blue Ivy, makes him more vulnerable. The anxieties of parenthood is a strong theme through "Magna Carta Holy Grail."

As for Miley Cyrus, who has recently become the subject of some controversy for her new image, Jay-Z admitted defended her and stated that he "loves" the star because she's being "herself." The two recently had a Twitter exchange in which Jay-Z called Cyrus a "God" and wrote that she "represents an old worlds worst nightmare." Cyrus delighted in the attention from the superstar, bragging on Twitter about her personal shout-outs from Jay-Z.

During his interview with HOT 97, Jay even said that there is room at Roc-a-fella Records for her. Cyrus's new song "We Can't Stop" is a rejected track by Roc-a-fella star Rihanna, after all...

As for what's going on now in the country, Jay said he's been watching the George Zimmerman trial "heavy right now."

"I was just looking at the news and like it's strange how you can see everyone's agenda," he said. "CNN is almost like TMZ. Certain things it's like, Aw man this is really just entertainment. It's really all for ratings. And you squeeze a bit of information in there... [Sports], that's the only thing that's real. The outcome of that is real. Although people want to believe that it's fixed. That's the real reality show."

And when it comes to sports, Jay-Z remains a loyal fan (and investor) of the Brooklyn Nets. "Everyone may try to trivialize my whole involvement in the Nets to a percentage," he said. "Okay, which one is it? Am I all about money or do I...It's difficult to keep up with."

On the subject of new music, Jay complimented his close friend Kanye West on his new album "Yeezus," saying that he loves it because it's "polarizing" and pushes the genre forward. On whether or not there will be a sequel to "Watch the Throne" with West, Jay-Z confirmed, "Yeah, hopefully."
