Lisa Lopes Replaced: Left-Eye’s Family Hurt After TLC Remakes ‘Waterfalls’ With Japanese Singer

To celebrate their 20th anniversary TLC decided to release a remake to their wildly successful song "Waterfalls" from their 1994 album "CrazySexyCool," E! News reports. The family of Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes was upset with the group after they found out that Left-Eye was replaced by Japanese singer, Namie Amuro on the song. Reigndrop Lopes, Left-Eye's sister, told TMZ that her family was shocked and hurt nobody told them. She said they found out about the remake after a fan posted the song online.

"I did not know about it until a fan posted it online," Reigndrop told TMZ. "I mean, it would have been nice if they would have given us a heads up before being surprised."

She said that her mom was hurt as well because she felt like keeping the late singer would have honored her daughter's memory. The song was only released in Japan and Reigndrop told the celebrity website that as long as it's not released in the U.S. she's ok with it. The song was posted on YouTube as "20th Anniversary Version - Japan Edition" but was pulled from the site.

Both Chili and T-Boz took to Twitter earlier in the week to ensure fans and critics that the remake was a tribute to Lopes and they were not trying to replace her.

Following the tragic death of Left-Eye in a 2002 car crash in Honduras, Chili and T-Boz continued on as a duo group. Seven months after their group member's death, they released their fourth album "3D" which had Left-Eye's vocals.

Recently at the Mobo Awards in England, the two remaining members told fans that they would be heading back to the studio to produce their first album in ten years. According to BBC, they will also be going on tour and will have a biopic of their lives. There have been rumors that Left-Eye will be incorporated in the tour in the form of a hologram. Currently Chili and T-Boz are searching for the actress to play them in the biopic which will air on VH1 as "CrazySexyCoolL: The TLC Story."

"We're going to sound like TLC, evolving to whatever level we need to at this time," T-Boz said at the event.
