Macbook Air Update Rumors: Apple Starts Investigation of MacBook Air Wi-Fi Issues, Customers to Get Unit Replacements

The new MacBook Air promised to be faster than its predecessor but for a reason that Apple is yet to identify; it didn’t turn out as promised.

When senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple Inc. Phil Schiller presented the new MacBook Air during the annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference held in California, enthusiasts got excited when the revamped specifications said that the ultra-slim laptop will have a longer battery life, faster graphics processor, and faster Wi-Fi connectivity. Though the modifications were not that mind-blowing, Apple fans were delighted to hear the improvements made on the laptop and waited for the day that they could get their hands on the ‘better Macbook Air’.

Apple promised a new 802.11ac Wi-Fi but it seemed that it is not faring well as customers who purchased the new MacBook Air headed back to the store complaining about unstable connections on both 11-inch and 13-inch variants. The connection was fast but staying connected was the challenge. For some reason, the connectivity drops intermittently.

Apple started their investigation now and released an instruction to Apple Stores and retailers to get the laptops of those who will walk on their door and replace it with a brand new unit. I am not sure how that’s going to solve the problem because they will be giving the same unit but that is the instruction for now according to Apple news site 9to5Mac. They didn’t also announce if a major recall will happen as soon as they found out the source of the problem.

It says in the website: “In the United States, Apple Geniuses and Advisors should capture MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) and MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013) computers with any Wi-Fi issues.”

There were rumors that it is Apple’s OS X that is causing the problem but Apple didn’t comment about it. They would probably take it into consideration but will have their own investigation anyway.
