A woman from Seattle has given up living on sunlight alone just shy of two months of beginning the experiment according to Gawker.
Navenna Shine reportedly documented her journey on her blog entitled "Living On Light." After allegedly being cyberbullied and a lack of funds, Shine has decided to quit.
"From the feedback I am getting it is becoming patently clear that most of the world is by no means ready to receive the information I am attempting to produce," she wrote. "Even if it were true that a person can 'Live On Light' and I were successful in demonstrating that, I see now that it would be synonymous with giving a loaded shotgun to a baby. The vast majority of people would inadvertently shoot themselves with it."
The British-native reportedly maxed out her credit cards purchasing camera equipment to document the experiment. Her financial dedication to "Living On Light" almost resulted in her being evicted from her trailer.
"i am grateful for the lack of funds that made the message easier to listen to and I am grateful for all the support, both positive and negative that has been flooding in," Shine wrote on her blog.
According to The Seattle Times, the 65-year-old's interest in the experiment stemmed from her inquiries about "breatharianism, a New Age belief that sunshine can substitute for food."
While conducting the experiment, Shine reportedly shed 20 percent of her body weight. Her alleged "Live On Light" diet included water flavored with "a splash of milk" or "a vitamin supplement called 'Emergency-C.'"
According to reports, Shine suffered nausea, light twitching, and eventually was unable to consume the water she consumed daily. The woman claims she will slowly reintroduce her body to food, beginning with "vegetables, like spinach or zucchini, sautéed in water."
