Boston Celtics star Rajon Rondo reportedly would be willing to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks or the Houston Rockets if he were traded to either team.  Trade talks involving Rondo have heated up, with Dallas and Houston both appearing to be serious contenders for the All-Star point guard.

The biggest hold up to any Rondo trade has been his refusal to commit to staying with a team beyond this season, after which his contract expires.  He's been believed to want to test free agency, but that may no longer be the case.

Per Ken Berger of CBS Sports:

"With Celtics president Danny Ainge seriously engaging several teams on Rondo trade scenarios, a league source told CBSSports.com Thursday that the point guard is open to re-signing with at least two of them - the Mavericks and Rockets....

Given Rondo's looming unrestricted free agency, any deal would have to come with assurances that he'd be willing to re-sign with his new team. While those discussions have yet to take place with agent Bill Duffy since no trade agreement is in place, a person familiar with Rondo's thinking said the possibility of competing for championships in Dallas or Houston intrigues him."

Dallas has had serious talks with the Celtics regarding Rondo, according to both NBC Sports and ESPN, and Houston is also considered a serious contender for him.  It's uncertain what either team is willing to offer Boston, but Celtics president Danny Ainge will likely aim high and ask for at least two future first-round picks.

The Sacramento Kings have also been linked to Rondo, who purportedly indicated this past offseason to Sacramento he wouldn't re-sign with them if they traded for him.

Teams have until Feb. 19 to complete a trade for Rondo.
