Fans who watched Marvel’s 75 Year celebration special on ABC were able to get a brief glimpse at “Ant-Man” starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.
Rudd takes on the role of Scott Lang and while Michael Douglas plays Hank Pym in the upcoming Marvel movie. The “Ant-Man” movie clip featured in the TV special was about 10 seconds, but long enough to get a glimpse of Rudd’s costume.
Check out the footage in the clip below. “Ant-Man” is slated to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
In other “Ant-Man” movie news, actress Hayley Atwell may be joining the production as fan-favorite character Peggy Carter. A site called Project Casting recently published a casting call were the production was allegedly asking for Atwell look-alikes for the film.
It’s unclear why Marvel would want to cast Carter in the “Ant-Man” movie, as her character fought alongside Captain America during World War II, an era that came way before the current film’s modern setting.
A recent change in the film’s synopsis has also caused many to speculate if “Ant-Man” is heading in a different direction. The reported new synopsis reads:
The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
Screen Rant reports there were two major changes made to the synopsis. The first is acknowledging Ant-Man was an Avenger and the second was making Lang a “master thief” instead of a “con-man.” These themes reportedly tie into the comics and could be setting up an Agent Carter appearance.
