The Big Apple will host its first-ever country music festival, FarmBorough, in 2015. Live Nation Entertainment and the New York concert promoter Founders Entertainment, which are presenting the event in partnership, made the announcement Wednesday.
Singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley informed that the event will be held from June 26-28,on Randall's island, People reports.
"Country artists love playing here. The energy is just so great. You come up to New York City and fall in love with it. I don't think there's a country artist who doesn't love New York - for two, three days," 38-year-old Bentley said.
According to the New York Times, the main attraction of the three-day festival, apart from Bentley, will be Brad Paisley, Dwight Yoakam and Luke Bryan. Meanwhile, Rolling Stone reports that Wade Bowen, Brandy Clark, Maddie & Tae, Kip Moore, Ashley Monroe, Randy Houser, the Cadillac Three and Dwight Yoakam will also appear during the event.
The popularity of country music , led by stars like Paisley, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, has been only growing over time. On the radio, the Top 40 chart proves the same. Even though time and again it has been shown that New Yorkers are huge fans of country music, the genre's association with rural life has failed to convince people of its potential to sell in the city.
"Everybody has the big myth that New York City for some reason has not been a supportive country music market. But it's just not true," said Brian O'Connell, Live Nation's president for country touring.
Sale of tickets will begin Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. ET, with three-day passes starting at $225 (plus applicable service charges and fees). For more information, click here.
