It would seem the Samsung Galaxy S4 brand cannot stay out of the news as the company's flagship phone constantly updates and develops itself to compete with Apple's iPhone. The latest news from the smartphone has to do with a new firmware update geared toward people who bought the more affordable 16GB version of the phone.
Just one day after the Galaxy S4 Active was announced, Samsung has launched a firmware update to their hugely successful phone, which has sold more than 10 million units in just one month.
The update is directed specifically toward those who complained about the 16GB version of the phone saying they were disappointed the smartphone only came with 9.15GB of usable memory storage. The firmware update allows Galaxy S4 users the ability to store their apps on the phone's removable, and upgradeable, SD card.
This will free up space on the handset for more memory storage. According to SamMobile, they have found a way to increase the storage to 9.23GB as well but they did not mention how.
Other improvements and fixes in the new update include new camera firmware, the ability to record HDR Video, updates to the display and various bug fixes including a purple filtering effect that some users were seeing when scrolling through pages.
At the moment, the new software update is only available for the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4. However, SamMobile claims it will come to the Exynos-powered Galaxy S4 relatively soon.
For Galaxy S4 users around the world, the new update is only rolling out in Germany for the moment. The company hopes to release the update over time in other countries as soon as possible.
The update is 365.67MB in size and can be found, in Germany, via the Samsung KIES or FOTA. Samsung suggests all users make sure their phone is fully charged or charging before trying to update.
