R&B singer Miguel could face even more trouble after he accidently leg dropped a fan during his performance at the Billboard Music Awards. According to TMZ, Miguel approached producers before rehearsals and asked them if he could try to jump across the heads of audience members to the other stage. Fearing that the daredevil stunt could leave someone hurt, they reportedly told him no. However, TMZ reports that Miguel did not listen to producers and did his flying leap anyway accidently landing on a female causing her to slam her head against the stage.
In the video, Miguel was clearly stunned as the girl appears to drop down to the ground. The 27-year-old singer stands up and continues to perform the song "Adorn." After the performance Miguel appeared backstage with the victim, Khyati Shah, who everyone assumed was fine, the Huffington Post writes.
"Well, I think it's kind of clear what happened. But I'm very happy to bring my new friend, Khyati; we just met. Unfortunately, we did not meet under the best circumstances, but I think we're OK," Miguel said backstage standing next to Shah. "The crazy thing is, when you're performing and you're just kind of into it, you never know where it's gonna go and where you're gonna go with it, and how that might turn out. So this is one of the less-favorable moments."
Miguel did express concern and later tweeted that he "was caught up in the moment" but assured fans that Shah was okay. Now Shah's lawyer reportedly told TMZ that his client may have suffered a brain injury as a result of the accident and she was not given proper medical attention. Instead of taking her to the hospital, her lawyer said producers handed her an ice pack.
"Some of the difficulties she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury," the lawyer told TMZ.
The lawyer added that Shah was currently undergoing tests and once the results are in she will decide if a lawsuit needs to be filed.
