The Detroit Lions are apparently preparing to lose Ndamukong Suh in free agency after the season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

"And with Suh in New York on Sunday to play against the Jets, it could be a prelude of what's to come," Schefter writes. "Suh has told people in the past that he would love to play in New York, and the idea of it has huge appeal to him, league sources said."

The All-Pro defensive tackle is reportedly interested in the large New York market and the opportunities it would offer him to expand his brand and profile. Both the Giants and the Jets, along with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys, have some level of interest in signing Suh.

While Jets coach Rex Ryan has a strong defensive background, it is the Giants who won two Super Bowls recently with dominant defensive lines. Either team would benefit greatly from adding arguably the league's best defensive tackle. The loss of Suh would certainly hurt Detroit, but the team does possess a deep and talented rotation of defensive linemen.

The Lions selected Suh second overall in the 2010 draft. Since then, the three-time Pro Bowler has developed a reputation as a dirty player for numerous vicious and penalized hits. Suh has been fined a total of $216, 875 since entering the NFL.

Suh has eight tackles and one sack this season.
