John Stamos is mourning the death of his beloved mother Loretta Phillips Stamos, who passed away Monday at the age of 75.

The "Full House" actor took to Instagram Tuesday to announce that his mother passed away in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Stamos also posted a sweet picture of himself as a toddler being held by his mother.

"Loretta Stamos - 1939-2014 The love of my life passed away yesterday in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren," the actor captioned the picture. "My mother had enough love to fuel a small country. She was truly one of a kind and will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her."

He added, "A few weeks ago, I asked my mom if she remembered an inconsequential event-she simply replied, 'I only remember the love.' #Brokenhearted #Iloveyouthemost."

His post was met with messages of condolence from several Instagram users.

Stomas also asked fans to make donation to The Vanguard Cancer Foundation, the charity founded by his mother. The non-profit foundation is dedicated to "advocating for more personalized and intelligent cancer care."

"Thirteen years ago, I held my brother's hand as a doctor told him that his cancer was untreatable," the actor's mother wrote about the site. "As I think back to that moment, I realize just how many people would have accepted that diagnosis and given up. Thankfully, Jake knew better...the Vanguard Cancer Foundation will be here, empowering patients to take the fight against cancer into their own hands."
