Chicago Man Suspected Of Hiding Pot In Prosthetic Leg Sets Wife On Fire

A Chicago man suspected of hiding pot inside his prosthetic leg is accused of setting his wife on fire, CBS Chicago reported.

The unidentified 66-year-old man, who is in a wheelchair, began arguing with his 60-year-old wife about money in a parking lot in Uptown on Sunday night, according to a police report obtained by the station.

At one point the suspect "became irate" and dowsed his wife with rubbing alcohol before taking a lighter and setting her on fire, the report reads. A good Samaritan who saw the 9 p.m. attack rushed to the scene, patted the victim down and helped remove her clothes.

The unnamed victim suffered third-degree burns on the front and back of her head, torso and waist, according to the report. She remains in critical condition at Stroger Hospital, CBS Chicago reported.

Officers took the husband into custody and conducted a search, during which they found a small plastic bag containing what is believed to be marijuana inside his prosthetic leg.

As of Monday no charges have been filed, according to the station.

Sunday's incident comes two weeks after an Indiana man was arrested for allegedly beating a woman with his prosthetic leg during an altercation, WBIW reported.

Police arrived at a Green County home to find 30-year-old John Henderson sitting outside with his left prosthetic leg on his right leg and his right prosthetic leg in the driveway.

Police also found a burnt marijuana cigarette in his pocket. He was arrested and charged with battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon among other charges related to burglary.
