Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Specs Released: Smaller Screen, Processor and Megapixel Camera Revealed

Samsung leaked information on the Galaxy S4 Mini on Thursday, ahead of its expected unveiling date of June 20. However, this is not necessarily a surprise as this is the same roadmap to an unveiling that the company used for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S3 Mini, it's previous generation of smartphones.

The Galaxy S4 Mini will act as the smaller cousin to the company's rival to the iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S4, which has reportedly sold more than ten million products. Running on the Android operating system, the Galaxy S4 pushed the envelope in terms of how big a phone can be. The mini will ensure that the company does not lose it's new place in the market by alienating those who might not be ready for the regular phone's rather larege 5-inch screen. The mini offers users a more manageable 4.3-inch screen.

Although the new phone has much of the same software as non-miniaturized model, it loses some ground in software.

"The Mini model is lighter, at 3.8 ounces compared to 4.6 ounces for the S4 and packs a 1.7GHz dual-core processor instead of a 1.9GHz quad-core model. Its battery is rated at 1,900mAh instead of 2,600," reports CNET. "In addition, the S4 Mini has an 8-megapixel camera versus the S4's 13 megapixels, although there's a lot more to image quality than just pixel count."

While the exact release date and cost of the new phone are still a mystery, some selling points are known. It will feature the latest Android operating system, the 4.2.2. (known as Jelly Bean). Samsung will be selling a 4G LTE version as well as a 3G version and a 3G dual-SIM version. The company has said that it is doing this in order to account for and handle various mobile network solutions. The phone will also come in two colors, black and white.
