The Colorado Rockies were hit with bad news regarding two of their young stars, while the Texas Rangers placed their ace on the disabled list and the Los Angeles Dodgers had one of their starters suffer an injury on Wednesday night.

The worst team in baseball just received even worse news. The Rockies will now be without shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez for the remainder of the season. Tulowitzki, who leads the MLB with a .340 batting average, was placed on the disabled list on July 22 after suffering a hip injury running to first base against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team announced on Wednesday night that Tulowitzki has a torn labrum in his hip and will undergo season-ending surgery on Friday. Earlier this month the All-Star shortstop said he was 'sick and tired' of losing, and his absence is not going to help the cause for his team.

The Rockies other young star, Carlos Gonzalez, has also been troubled by injuries for a majority of the 2014 season. The Denver Post reported last night that Gonzalez is likely done for the year as well after an MRI revealed the tendinitis in his left knee is worsening, while he is also suffering from a badly sprained right ankle. Gonzalez has only played in 70 games this year because he spent over a month on the disabled list in June to undergo a surgical procedure on his left index finger to remove a tumor. The 28-year-old is only batting .238 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs.

The second worst team in baseball, the Texas Rangers, are only one game better than the Rockies. They placed one of their best players on the disabled list on Wednesday, as starting pitcher Yu Darvish is experiencing elbow inflammation in his throwing arm. Darvish was playing catch on Monday and said he felt tightness in his elbow. Team doctor Keith Meister said the Rangers ace has some tightness in his pronator flexor muscle and is expected to miss two starts, but will still undergo an MRI on Thursday to make sure everything is fine structurally.

One of the best teams in baseball may have also lost one of their starters last night in Atlanta. The Los Angeles Dodgers said that starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu suffered a strained right gluteus muscle and was forced to leave the game early against the Braves on Wednesday night. Ryu will undergo an MRI and meet with the team orthopedist before his next start on Tuesday before the team makes a decision on his availability. The Dodgers have already lost Josh Beckett to the 15-day DL and can't afford to lose another starter in the final month of the season.
