Marin County Sheriff Lt. Keith Boyd held a press conference on Aug. 12 to provide further details about Robin Williams' death and left no detail spared. Fans and viewers were shocked and stunned by the amount of sensitive information released.

WARNING: This article contains graphic details about Robin Williams' death.

Boyd confirmed that the 63-year-old actor died from suicide by hanging and told reporters that Williams was found with a belt around his neck with the other end wedged between a closed door frame.

According to the Sheriff, Williams' body was discovered in a bedroom of his California home in a slightly suspended, seated position. Boyd said Williams' assistant found the body.

More details claim that the "Jumanji" actor also had cuts on his left wrist and a pocket knife with blood on it was located near the body. Boyd told reporters that Williams' attempt to slice his wrist left "acute, superficial wounds."

The legendary actor was last seen alive by his wife around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10. According to Boyd, Susan Schneider, retired to a room in the home while Williams went to another room, which is where he was found Monday afternoon.

Schneider left the home Monday morning thinking her husband was still in the room asleep. Around 11:45 a.m. an assistant became worried when the actor did not answer to knocks on the bedroom door and upon entering found Williams' body. Boyd said the assistant immediately called 911.

During the live conference Sheriff Boyd also revealed that the "Mrs. Doubtfire" star's body was already cool to the touch when police arrived and rigor mortis had already set in. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene on Monday, Aug. 11, a little after 12:00 p.m.

Before the press conference, Napa County Sheriff's Office Morgue conducted a forensic examination and determined that Williams had not been in a struggle at the time of his death. A toxicology report is expected to be conducted to determine if the actor had any chemicals in his system.

Following the death, Williams' rep released a statement saying the actor had been battling severe depression at the time of his death.
