Baby Found Trapped in China Sewer Pipeline [VIDEO]

A newborn baby boy was found trapped in the sewage system of a bathroom in China this past Saturday, reported NBC News.

According to Chinese media, rescue authorities were called to an apartment in Jinhua City, located in the eastern coastal province of Zhejiang, when building tenants heard the child crying, wailing from the pipelines.

When rescuers arrived, they could see the newborn's head poking out of the toilet duct, but they could not reach far enough into the pipe to pry him free.

Emergency crews then descended one floor down to cut the four-inch diameter pipe and remove the child.

The baby, whose skin was grey from lack of oxygen, was then rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was immediately treated for low heart rate and labored breathing.

Doctors at Pujiang People's Hospital told NBC that a few hours after the child was admitted to the facility, he was doing much better. His heart rate had stabilized, and his breathing was no longer heavy and strained.

The unidentified baby was reportedly two days old when he was stuffed into the sewers of the apartment complex.

Hospital staff also mentioned that the hospital would foot the child's medial bill, while clothing, formula and other donations rolled through in droves from the community.

Although the doctors did not specify if the child's family had come forward to claim him, police in Jinhua City reported that they seemingly found the baby's parents. They did not give more details on the matter.

Police have said they are looking into this case as one of attempted murder.

On the Chinese social media site Weibo, incredulous users declared their anger and shock.

"More and more, young parents treat their own flesh and blood so viciously," one person wrote. "Treating a life like this is no different than murder."
