San Antonio bounced back from their Game 2 loss by winning Game 3 in Miami, 111-92. Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard led all scorers with 29 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, and four other Spurs scored in the double digits.
"We finally put a game together for not the full 48, but for as long as we could, where we did exactly what we planned to do and executed in that respect," Spurs veteran Tim Duncan told the Associated Press, "and that's what we're going to need again."
San Antonio made history by becoming the first team to shoot 75.8 percent from the field in the first half of a finals game.
"We did not play a good basketball game," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "All of us have owned that. It doesn't matter ultimately how many you lose by or what the game is like. You have to learn from it, move on. ...
"(The Spurs) came out at a different gear than what we were playing at, and it just seemed we were on our heels the most part of the first half."
LeBron James and Dwyane Wade led the Heat with 22 points apiece, and Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen chipped in with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
"We're an in-the-moment team," Wade said. "And right now in the moment is the day after a loss, getting better mentally, physically and then coming into tomorrow and playing the game of basketball here on our home floor and trying to win Game 4. That is all we focus on."
