One Direction Announce Huge Stadium World Tour for Next Spring

Boy band group, One Direction, made a huge announcement. The group is planning a "Where We Are" stadium world tour for the spring of 2014.

The announcement, made at a press conference at Wembley Stadium in north London, comes in the middle of the group's current tour. They promised fans their surprise stadium tour will be something completely different and exciting for the group.

"We're incredibly excited to announce we're doing a worldwide stadium tour in 2014," said Niall Horan. "We're three years into it (being a band), so stepping out to an audience of 65,000 a night is incredible."

Band mate Harry Styles added that "It's important that the fans know it's not the same tour going around again in stadiums. We want to make the stage bigger, with new songs. It's going to be a completely different tour and a lot of fun."

Fans were definitely excited about the news. According to a special One Direction website set up to countdown the tour and post information, the "#OneBigAnnouncement" had been shared over 400 thousand times.

So far the band has announced 13 dates but promise more tour dates will be added soon. The tour will include five UK and Ireland dates and eight in Latin America.

The Independent reports that the young heartthrobs also announced a new album will drop later this year.

Fellow band members Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson were all excited about the announcement as well.

The band shot to fame after appearing on the 2010 season of "X Factor." The came in third place being beat out by singer/songwriter Matt Cardle.

The group's international success has landed them with a string of top 10 singles, two hit albums and the anticipated release of their first film, 1D3D.
