Adam Levine took to Twitter to share his new platinum blonde hair color. Will it cost him his "sexiest man alive" title?

There's a reason why Adam Levine is known as the "Sexiest Man Alive" - his cute dimples, that sexy voice and his black hair that's always sleekly pushed back, which just changed. The "Voice" coach shared a picture of his new platinum blonde hair on Twitter over the weekend, surprising and shocking many.

The dimpled-singer has pulled a Miley Cyrus and gone completely blonde. Levine fans immediately started commenting and retweeting the picture. The reaction was mixed with many opining that the new look was creepy.

But as usual, Levine had the last word, taking the criticism in his stride.

"I hope people understand that when they say my hair looks creepy I take that as the highest compliment," he wrote on Twitter, responding to all the comments.

The new hairdo has also given rise to a lot of speculation suggesting Levine may have another Hollywood project at hand.  The picture caption "Apocalypse prep course complete" added more fuel to the rumors.

But Levine's stylist, Shaul Arbiv rubbished the rumors saying the bleached blond style was not for a role but because the singer wanted a change.

"With summer months coming up we wanted to do something totally drastic and different from his previous styles so we bleached it," Shaul told People. "I have been working with Adam for a long time and he likes to change up his style often."

He has already featured in the 2013 film "Begin Again," co-starring actress Keira Knightley. He played Knightley's ex-boyfriend.

Maroon 5's frontman is probably hell bent on startling his fans for the worse or better. After judging NBC's "The Voice" for 6 seasons, reports have it that Levine may not be returning for Season 7. Though the news hasn't been confirmed yet, several tabloids suggested that Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani would be joining the show, which could make Levine's leaving a big possibility.
