Peaches Geldof Drug Overdose: Inquest Reveals Husband Found Body ‘Slumped’ on Bed; Investigation Launched to Find Heroin Dealer

Kent Police have confirmed that Peaches Geldof was using heroine at the time of her death and suspect that it may have played a factor. The results of her death were revealed in an inquest after an autopsy proved inconclusive.

According to the Daily Mail, the inquest was opened after the results were returned to the coroner. During a short hearing at Gravesend Coroners Court, DCI Paul Fotheringham said that the "recent use of heroine" was evident and "the levels identified were likely to have played a role in her death."

Her family was not present at the hearing, the Daily Mail reports. Fotheringham went on to explain the events leading up to Geldof's death saying that her husband, Thomas Cohen, was the one who discovered the body.

According to the inquest, Cohen came home on Monday, Apr. 7 and found Geldof "slumped" on the bed in the spare room with one leg on the floor and the other pinned underneath her. Cohen and the couple's two young sons had spent the weekend at his parents' home in south-east London.

"This is a normal occurrence which enables Peaches and Thomas to complete work in their respective careers," Fotheringham said.

It is believed that the TV presenter spent the weekend at her home by herself. Friends and family who spoke to Geldof said everything seemed fine and she appeared normal. Reportedly her last known contact was a phone call she made to a friend the evening before she died.

"All of the friends and family who had contact with Peaches during this period described how she seemed her normal self and was making plans for the future, including a family outing for her sons for the following weekend," Fotheringham said.

"There was no cause for concern," he added.

During the hearing it was also revealed that Cohen's father had stopped by the couple's Kent home to drop off their youngest son, Phaedra. The 11-month-old boy was found in the home at the time of Geldof's death.

Cohen's father spent half an hour with Geldof before he left and again said everything seemed fine. According to Fotheringham, Cohen returned to the house around 1:45 p.m. on Monday because his wife was not answering the phone.

When Cohen found the body "it was apparent that she was dead," Fotheringham told the hearing. Police and paramedics pronounced the 25-year-old dead at the scene.

According to the Daily Mail, the inquest will restart on July 23 and an investigation is currently underway to determine who sold the heroine to Geldof.
