"Fast & Furious" star Vin Diesel told Entertainment Weekly that a simple post - "Hi, guys, I love you" - propelled him towards Facebook stardom.
The action star has one of the most popular fan pages on Facebook with 41 million "likes." He said he is one of the first celebrities to have such a successful Facebook persona because he got in the game early.
Deisel credits his Facebook success to his fans sticking by him and also his smart thinking.
"What Facebook didn't realize is something very big was about to happen, and that was - for the first time in history, and it's kind of a fluke they didn't see this coming - when I jumped on that page in April 2009, I started talking to people. In the realest ways," Diesel told Entertainment Weekly in a new interview.
Diesel said the only other person that had millions of fans on the social networking site was Barack Obama because he had just got elected president.
He told Entertainment Weekly that even Facebook corporate couldn't understand why his page was so popular and would ask the actor to come to their headquarters to explain to them what he was doing.
Diesel said what was unique about him was that in the four years he has been on Facebook he has never let anyone else write a post for him. He writes and posts everything on his page himself.
Many other celebrities also interact with their fans via Facebook by thanking them for their support, posting videos, commenting on current events but Diesel claims he is the one who started the trend.
"Facebook really owes me billions of dollars," he joked. "But whatever."
