Amazon.com. Inc., the world's biggest online retail store, unveiled another hardware that will revolutionize shopping for its patrons.
The Dash Device, a six-inch, Wi-Fi-enabled stick resembling the remote of Fire TV, allows customers to add grocery items by saying the name or scanning a product they need from the millions of items available at AmazonFresh and Amazon.com.
According to GeekWire, customers can order what they need through the Dash Device by simply pressing the voice button at the top of the gadget with the microphone icon and saying the name of the product. They can also scan an item by pressing the square icon button and pointing the tip to a product barcode.
All items ordered and included in his shopping cart will automatically appear in their Amazon shopping cart, and will be delivered the next day via Amazon Fresh, the company's grocery-delivery service provider.
With Dash, consumers can conveniently shop at the comfort of their own home and scan a week's worth of groceries in minutes, or when they are running low on several items like soap and milk. Furthermore, its compact design suggests that it was designed to withstand busy households.
Jeff Bezos, Chief Executive Officer of Amazon, told Businessweek that their latest foray into the said hardware aims to make its customers more familiar with the products and services of the company.
Prior to the launch of the Dash Device, Amazon unveiled in the same week the Fire TV, a gadget wherein a customer can choose and order any movie, television shows and video games delivered digitally to his own TV set.
The Dash Device is not for sale yet. The only way to get the device is through invitation which has been sent out to a limited number of customers living in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
