Rapper Benzino Shot Update: ‘Love & Hip Hop’ Star to Undergo Physical Therapy, Expected to Make Full Recovery (VIDEO)

Rapper and TV personality Benzino is still recovering in a Massachusetts hospital after getting shot but is expected to make a full recovery. Over the weekend the 48-year-old star of "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" was shot twice, allegedly, by his nephew during his mother's funeral procession.

"I'm good, I got shot in my arm. I got shot twice - one of the bullets grazed my back and one here," he told NEHip-Hop from the hospital, pointing to his right arm. "I got to do some physical therapy for a while on my hand, but I'm alright."

According to reports, the rapper, real name Raymond Scott, planned on skipping the funeral to avoid the family drama. Boston.com reports that on the morning of his mother's funeral Benzino was driving to meet a friend when he ran into the procession.

"I looked over, there was a car, and all I saw was a gun shooting at me," he said in a phone interview with Boston.com. "I was trying to duck and dodge, drive around it, maneuver the car... I was bleeding a lot. I was driving with my thumb in my shoulder to try to stop the bleeding,"

Reportedly the family feud stemmed from arguments over money and the care of his now-deceased mother, Boston.com reports.

"I didn't want to be around them," Benzino said. "I felt like, I didn't want any problems. I can love my mother and there doesn't have to be no problems with family."

Because the shooting is still being investigated by police, Benzino did not confirm who shot him but reports claim that it was his 36-year-old nephew Gai Scott. According to TMZ, the nephew turned himself in and was charged with armed assault and the intent to murder.

"I'm more embarrassed than anything else to be honest with you," Benzino told NEHip-Hop. "Because me being a public figure and having people see that me and my family are going through that. I didn't appreciate that."

Scott is expected to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Mar. 31.
