The live-action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (TMNT) has released its first official trailer.

TMNT made its official debut during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nev. The trailer features snippets of Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, of course. Check out the official synopsis for the trailer below, published by ComicBookMovie.com:

"The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O'Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan."

Many were surprised to see Fox in the film, considering comments she made against director Michael Bay caused her to get fired from the "Transformers" franchise.

"He's like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation," Fox told Wonderland magazine in 2009. "He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he's not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he's so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it's endearing to watch him."

However, Bay and Fox were able to get past the actress' comments and work together on the TMNT reboot.  The film stars Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michael Angelo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, while Whoopi Goldberg takes on the role of Bernadette Thompson and Danny Woodburn plays Splinter.

TMNT will be released to theaters on Aug. 8.
