Famous Detroit morning radio show “Drew&Mike” will no longer air on the rock station WRIF-FM starting May 17, according to the Detroit Free Press. However the company that owns the station, Greater Media Detroit, would not confirm if the hosts of “Dave and Chuck ‘the Freak’”—Dave Hunter and Charles Urquhart—would replace Drew Lane and Mike Clark.
Hunter and Urquhart announced on their Facebook page that “Dave and Chuck ‘the Freak’” would be ending November. This incited a huge amount of speculation as to where the morning show radio hosts from CIMX-FM (88.7) would end up.
Prior to the announcement the “Drew & Mike” show was ending, no one suspected that Hunter and Urquhart could ever end up taking their place. Lane and Clark have been ratings giants for about 20 years.
When asked about the reason for taking the two off the air, market manager Steve Chessare referenced the changing media landscape and that “Drew & Mike” were not number one throughout every ratings demographic.
Lane and Clark hinted at the issue at the end of their radio show but said they would discuss it on Thursday. “If there’s a time to procrastinate, it’s now,” said Clark.
