A Utah rodeo star's toddler son is in critical condition after he drove his toy tractor into a river on Tuesday evening.

Three-year-old Levi Wright, the son of rodeo star Spencer Wright, got too close to a swift moving creek on the family's property and was pulled into the currents, the family shared. Levi's mother, Kallie, called 911 and began searching for her son. He was discovered unconscious, in the water, a mile away from where he initially fell in.

Spencer and Kallie have been releasing statements about their son's condition through a family friend.

"Levi's heart is beating on its own, he has a will to breathe but his sweet little brain was without oxygen too long and there is no coming back from that," friend Mindy Sue Clark wrote on Facebook.

"We cuddled him all night and feel strongly that his spirit is no longer with us. We can't be selfish and drag this out for days, he doesn't deserve that. Shortly, we will stop care and hold him close until his last breath on Earth."

Spencer is ranked number 40, in the world, bronc riding, according to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Bronc Riding Nation - a nonprofit organization that supports rodeo athletes - shared an Instagram post supporting the Wright family on Wednesday.

"We're asking you to join the massive prayer effort for 3 year old Levi Wright, Kallie and Spencer Wright and everybody who knows and loves them," the organization wrote. "Kallie and Spencer were holding him and getting prepared for the worst - then the hospital shift change brought a new doctor to the sweet little boy's side."

The medical team reportedly revised their predictions about Levi's chance of survival, giving the family a renewed sense of hope.

"We have received multiple small miracles along the way and doctors are certainly surprised by the strides he has made," Kallie wrote, in a statement shared by Clark. "He is getting an EEG, to monitor any brain activity and we haven't heard much on what they're seeing yet."

"They've also started him on antibiotics and will do an MRI Friday or Saturday! We are unbelievably humbled by the love and prayers we have received, the help in all forms that is flooding our way is surreal."
