A Miami man is jailed after he allegedly beat his roommate to death in a dispute over $1.

Brandon Carlos Grant is being held without bail on 2nd-degree murder charges according to jail records.

The murder occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Friday at the suspect and victim's apartment, according to an arrest report viewed by WPLG-TV.

Officers found Grant lying on the sidewalk with blood on his hoodie.

He claimed he couldn't breathe and asked for water. He was later taken to a hospital.

Officers then went into the apartment and found his roommate unresponsive. It appeared he was beaten to death in the face, the arrest report stated.

Grant, who is 5'8" and 250 pounds, later told detectives he and his roommate started arguing while they were both lying in their beds in the same room, WTVJ-TV reported.

He allegedly said he "became enraged when the victim would not give him a dollar."

Grant reportedly said they began to struggle and the victim asked him to stop at one point "because he was going to kill him."
