Former President Donald Trump spoke during a campaign stop in Michigan on Tuesday about the murder of Ruby Garcia using the tragedy to bolster his criticisms of President Biden's border policies. Authorities believe Ruby's murder was perpetrated by someone who entered the United States illegally.  During the rally, Trump said that he spoke with the Garcia family but that is being refuted by the Ruby's sister, Mavi.

"He did not speak with any of us, so it was kind of shocking seeing that he had said that he had spoken with us, and misinforming people on live TV," Mavi Garcia said.

She told the media that "it was shocking" and she criticized Trump and other lawmakers who have made her sister's death political.

"It's always been about illegal immigrants," she said."Nobody really speaks about when Americans do heinous crimes, and it's kind of shocking why he would just bring up illegals. What about Americans who do heinous crimes like that?"

The former President tells a diffrent story. "She lit up that room, and I've heard that from so many people," said Trump, speaking in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where the 25-year-old was shot last month. "I spoke to some of her family."

During his speech, Trump blamed Biden for creating a "blood bath" at the border and called immigrants "animals."

The former president also mentioned the killing of Laken Riley, the Georgia nursing student whose killing was allegedly carried out by a man who was in the United States illegally.
