An 8-year-old girl reportedly died after being sucked into a pipe in a hotel pool in Houston.

The 1-foot pipe was supposed to be pushing water into the pool but was pulling water out instead and it is believed to have sucked the girl into it.

It happened on Saturday around 6 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel in northwest Houston, KTRK-TV reported.

Houston Police reportedly reviewed security footage. It showed the girl went underwater and never came back up.

Crews drained the pool and then attached cameras to check the pipes.

"We put them poles in there almost 20 feet, and we saw her little hand and part of her body, so we got the fire department back out there," searcher TimMiller told the TV station.

It took rescue teams about 13 hours to break through the pool and pipe to get to the little girl's body.

An investigation continues into the cause and if charges will be filed.

The girl's name was not released by authorities.

The hotel declined a request for a statement on the incident to KTRK-TV.
