An autistic teenager named Dakota has allegedly been assaulted by a group of girls at Altona Pier in Melbourne last week, which left her with two black eyes and a trauma of leaving home.

Australian outlet 9News reported that the alleged attack that happened on Wednesday last week (Feb. 28) was posted by the group to the victim's sister.

The 14-year-old victim, who was strolling along the pier with a friend, was allegedly punched over 50 times and was left helpless and with serious injuries. She was also pulled by the hair by one of the assailants and had an energy drink poured over her head.

The attack only stopped when a man nearby intervened.

Dakota spent the night at the hospital for treatment.

The victim's mother told 9News on the condition of anonymity that emergency service crews counted the head blows her daughter received at "over 55."

"They thought it was funny," she said, referring to the attackers. "She could have been killed."

Dakota's mother added that, aside from physical injuries, she also struggled with her confidence prior to the incident, and her confidence was shattered as a result of it to the point that she became too scared to leave her home.

"To see your daughter go through that and you're just helpless," she added. "My daughter won't even go back to school now."

Police said that the attackers were known to the victim, but no arrests have been made as investigations are underway.
