What's alarming about this rumored system cyberattack is that users worry that the new mailing addresses are being labeled as legitimate alternative pickup locations.

If this is true, then hackers or whoever is behind the issue could allow them to ship items using the money of unsuspecting Amazon customers.

Amazon Security Breach Adds New Mailing Addresses to Accounts

To confirm if there's really a mailing address issue on Amazon's online platforms, BGR reported that their staff also checked their own accounts.

To their surprise, their accounts also have additional mailing addresses on their lists. Aside from unknown mailing addresses, some Amazon customers claim that their accounts also have unauthorized orders.

With all these details, they conclude that the latest issue experienced by Amazon's platforms could possibly be a security breach. An affected Reddit user named lemonbashful shared his experience.

"Anyone experience something similar? Found an unknown local Amazon hub address in my list of addresses under account setting," he said.

The Amazon consumer already tried deleting the mailing address, changing it, adding a 2-step verification, and even signing out his accounts from all devices.

Unfortunately, the unknown mailing addresses went back after a few days. The Reddit user said that he did all these repeatedly for the past few days and still got the same result.

Snopes, the fact-checking website that first reported the issue on Amazon accounts, said that it was able to get a response from the American retailer.

In their first conversation, the e-commerce giant said that they have no evidence of a security breach on their systems, claiming that they remain secure from any cyberattack.

After that, Amazon sent a second reply. The company said that the mailing addresses were added to accounts in error and that they are already working to fix this issue.

"This isn't a data security matter and our systems are secure. Amazon pickup locations were added to a small number of customer accounts in error," said the retail firm.

Amazon apologized for the inconvenience that the error caused. The company added that those who are worried can contact the company's customer service anytime to get the answers they need.
