Yahoo News reported that the FDA's recall alert involves all lot codes and expiration dates of WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit purees. FDA officials urged the public not to buy or eat the mentioned fruit puree because of the possible lead contamination.

The health organization stated that it was informed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (NCDA&CS).

In a developing investigation conducted by NCDA&CS and NCDHHS, it was revealed that four children with elevated blood lead levels were identified. Their findings indicated potential acute lead toxicity in the WanaBana apple cinnamon puree.

"The FDA is advising parents and caregivers not to buy or feed WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree pouches to children because the product may contain elevated levels of lead," said the Food and Drug Administration via its official website

FDA added that if parents or caregivers suspect that kids in their residences consumed the WanaBana apple cinnamon puree, then they should contact their healthcare provider immediately.

The health agency highly suggests that parents and caregivers get their kids a blood test to ensure that they didn't consume lead.
