The singer also changed her Threads account name to 'Maria River Red' as she prepares to release her upcoming memoir, 'The Woman in Me.'

The singer did not change her legal name, but her new alias was all over her social media accounts. In January, the singer announced in a since-deleted post on Instagram that she would change her name to 'River Red.'
"I see right through it all... it has liquid and is wet... it's playful and has mass!!! I changed my name to River Red!!! Yet the fire is where it illuminates... to stare at it and jump right in with no fear at all!!!!," Spears posted on Instagram.
On July 4, Spears posted a video of herself dancing to 'Maria Maria' by Santana with a caption of 'Maria River Red.' After publicly uploading the video, she changed her username to her new alias that matches the caption. Many fans believed her new alias was inspired by Santana's 1999 hit song 'Maria Maria.'
The singer's fans came up with theories, and one person tweeted that Spears was trying to hint at remarriage on X, formerly known as Twitter. According to X user @fkahumxn, 'Maria River Red' is an anagram for "I've remarried."
The posted theory from the fan holds some weight, as the singer married Sam Asghari in June 2022. But other fans believed that the new name was related to her upcoming memoir 'The Woman in Me," which reveals that she likes to refer to the woman within herself as 'Maria River Red.'
According to The Independent, another fan suspected that 'Maria River Red' could be linked to Spears' upcoming album. The fans said that 'River Red' might be the name of the album or her counterpart, similar to Beyoncé's 'I Am Sasha Fierce' album.

Britneyt Spears' New Album 'The Woman in Me'
Spears recorded her new album called 'The Woman in Me' amid her divorce from Sam Asghari. As reported in Page Six, her album was revealed to have an upcoming writers camp and will get songs from some prominent artists.
Spears also shared that her upcoming memoir will be out on October 24. She said she would love to record a song for the book release. Spear's last album 'Glory' was still back in 2016. However, she dropped two songs since a judge terminated her 13-year conservatorship on November 21.
She collaborated with known artists for her songs' Hold Me Closer' with Elton John and 'Mind Your Business' with Will.i.am. In May, Spears started to record again and has gotten many offers. She was also rumored to be in a collaboration with Beyoncé.
