TikTok's New 15-Minute Video Limit Leads To Criticisms as Users Claim It's Copying YouTube

The new TikTok 15-minute video limit is expected to arrive soon after a social media consultant spotted its ongoing development and testing. 

Matt Navarra, the founder of Geekout Newsletter, posted a screenshot of TikTok account updates showing the new video limit. 

However, based on the comments of netizens, they are not really happy or excited about the upcoming TikTok enhancement.

TikTok's New 15-Minute Video Limit Could Arrive

According to TechCrunch's latest report, TikTok is expected to increase its video limitation from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. After Navarra posted the screenshot, the social media giant the arrival of this enhancement. 

On Monday, Oct. 23, TikTok said that the 15-minute video limit is already being tested in selected regions; users who can try this are also limited. 

Based on Matt Navarra's official Threats post, the new feature will allow users to upload 15-minute long videos on both the mobile app and desktop version of TikTok. 

This just shows that TikTok has a rising video limitation trend. When the social media platform was just starting to become popular, users could only upload 60-second content. 

After that, TikTok's video limitation increased to three minutes, which was followed by another enhancement in February 2022, allowing TikTokers to post 10-minute long content. 

Ever since TikTok became among the top social media platforms around the globe, its content started to become more diverse as influencers upload educational content, beauty tutorials, cooking recipes, daily vlogs, etc. 

The upcoming 15-minute video limitation is expected to benefit these TikTok influencers, especially those that focus on long-form content.

TikTok Users Not Happy With Longer Video Limitation

TikTok gained popularity because of its unique short-form video style. Unlike YouTube and other online platforms, users can see different TikTok videos in less than one minute. 

But, based on the new video limitations it releases, TikTok is embracing long-form content. Unfortunately, netizens don't appreciate this at all because of various reasons. 

"I love how TikTok ruined the attention spans of an entire generation and are now slowly trying to be more like YouTube," said a netizen in the comment section of Navarra's Threads post.

"Eventually it's going to get landscape orientation support too. Mark my words," added the Threads user. 

Meanwhile, other individuals made fun of TikTok's new 15-minute limitation, saying that it wouldn't be surprising if the social media giant starts allowing full movies to be uploaded on the platform.
