According to Business Insider, Eric Adams attended the launch of the new K5 patrol robot; a 5 feet, 3 inches tall machine weighing 400 lbs (181 kg). This new patrol bot is set to patrol the New York Times Square subway station. Officials will use it from midnight until 6:00 a.m. every day for two months.
During the robot's launch event, Adams was captured trying to make a heart sign with the machine. This was quickly spotted by netizens. Many X users made fun of Eric's action, saying that no one could have predicted that the NYC mayor would try to make a heart sign with the handless cop robot.

Meanwhile, other netizens criticized Adams for allowing the robot's release. They said that the NYC leader could have done more important things to do.
"We need affordable housing and the trains to run on time but instead, we get a robocop that can't even make a heart," said another netizen on X.
But, some Americans explained the reason why Eric Adams acted this way. They said that the odd behavior of the mayor has become a near-daily habit for him since he always makes a heart sign with other people.

Eric Adams explained that K5 is one of New York City's efforts to explore innovative tools that can keep the city safe. He added that this new armless machine has the potential to serve as an important technology in law enforcement.
Since some NYC residents might be concerned about their privacy, city officials clarified that the robot will only record videos, excluding audio recordings.
