U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) speaks during a news conference at the U.S. Capitol on May 24, 2023 in Washington, DC. The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) held a news conference to discuss the debt ceiling negotiations.

According to Business Insider's latest report, AOC was asked on the Face the Nation if she still plans to switch her Tesla. The US representative said she wanted to trade her Tesla for a union-made electric car.

"We're actually looking into trading in our car now," said Alexandria.

This is not the first time she shared her interest in buying a union-made EV to replace her Tesla Model 3. In May, she also said that she wanted to own an EV made by an automaker that allows employees to unionize.

In the same month, she also had an issue with Tesla's CEO Elon Musk after accusing Twitter (X) of allowing her impersonator on the platform. However, it is unclear if she made her statement about Tesla concerning her issue with the social media platform.

"He's a billionaire. I could care less what he thinks," said AOC in May. As of writing, Tesla hasn't commented regarding the latest statement shared by the US representative.

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) waits as the House of Representatives holds the election for Speaker of the House, on the first day of the 118th Congress in the House Chamber of the U.S. Capitol Building on January 03, 2023 in Washington, DC.

Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan asked AOC why she still owns a Tesla.

"Is it a problem with the quality, is it a problem with the style, is the market just not there?" said the reporter via The Daily Mail UK.

AOC explained that she purchased the Tesla Model 3 since it was the safest way to travel in 2020, the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. She said that when the COVID-19 vaccine wasn't available, she had to travel between New York and Washington. The politician said she saw the Tesla Model 3 as their safest travel option.

Many netizens were confused by her explanation. Meanwhile, other people just made fun of her latest interview. One of them said that if AOC's explanations make sense to others, they should quit the day and lie down.

Another netizen said AOC makes word salad for breakfast, pointing out the representative's statement regarding the COVID-19 jab being unavailable and the Tesla Model 3 being the safest travel method.

An X user also explained AOC's explanation, saying that the American official only got Tesla because COVID-19 vaccines weren't released yet during that period. These are just some of the comments made by netizens about AOC's latest Face the Nation interview. You can click here to see more.
