Authorities discovered the suspects in the Romeoville family murder shot inside a car in Oklahoma only days after the horrific killings in Illinois.

The two individuals identified as persons of interest in the Illinois family murder, 31-year-old Nathaniel Huey Jr. and an unnamed woman, were involved in a car crash and subsequent shooting in Catoosa, Oklahoma.

Police officials announced the update during a press conference. They came only days after discovering the bodies of two adults, two children, and three dogs inside a home in Romeoville, Illinois.

The family murder initially unfolded as law enforcement personnel were called to the home for a well-being check around 8:43 p.m. on Sunday in the 500 block of Concord Avenue. In a statement, Romeoville Police Deputy Chief Chris Burne said that one of the family members did not show up for work at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Officials added that the individual in question did not respond to phone calls throughout the day, which caused family members to become concerned about their well-being. When police arrived at the home in Romeoville, officers discovered four deceased individuals, all of whom had sustained gunshot wounds, as per NBC Chicago.

Romeoville police officials later identified the two adult victims as Alberto Rolon and Zoraida Bartolomei. The two young kids were identified as aged seven and nine, and they have been kept anonymous and only said to have been students at Robert C. Hill Elementary School.

Officials added that the shooting was believed to have occurred between 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and 5:00 a.m. on Sunday. On Tuesday, police published an update regarding the incident, saying that authorities have determined that the shootings were "not a random act," adding that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

However, on that same day, police said that the female person of interest, who was said to have had a relationship with Huey, was reported by family on Tuesday as a "missing and dangerous person" out of Streamwood, which subsequently prompted the Romeoville police to release a statewide bulletin.

Suspects Found Dead

The bodies of Huey and the unnamed woman were discovered after officials from Catoosa, Oklahoma, were alerted to a vehicle within their jurisdiction that matched the description and license plate of the one that the suspects used, according to ABC7 Chicago.

Authorities said that the vehicle drove away during an attempted traffic stop and subsequently crashed. After that, the car caught fire, and officers said they heard two gunshots fired.

Burne noted that they made the family murder the department's top priority, adding that they have all officers and professional staff working tirelessly on the case. He noted that their detectives and crime-scene investigators spent more than 36 hours collecting a tremendous amount of physical evidence.

The police deputy chief said the Will County Major Crime Task Force had joined the investigation to gather evidence and collect video. Burne added that investigators are still seeking information from the public, including doorbell video, said NBC News.
