Florida's diesel contamination has been acknowledged by CITGO (Citgo Petroleum Corporation) after FDACS (Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services) announced the issue.

Because of this, the US-based fuel company provided the list of affected gas stations to help Florida residents.

A person pumps gas into his car at a gas station in Miami, Florida, on July 19, 2022. - US gasoline prices have fallen from historic highs earlier in the summer, a retreat highlighted by a politically beset White House as a sign of moderating inflation.

According to Fox News' latest report, Florida's officials confirmed that the fuel supplied by CITGO on Saturday, Aug. 26, could be contaminated with diesel. Authorities said that the gas supplies purchased from CITGO after 10:00 could be affected by the latest fuel contamination in the Port of Tampa.

"FDACS has identified a potentially widespread fuel contamination caused by human error at the Port of Tampa," said Florida's executive department via its official X announcement.

"Tampa has a strong likelihood of being contaminated with diesel fuel," added FDACS.

During his press conference about the Tropical Storm Idalia, Gov. Ron DeSantis also mentioned the fuel contamination. DeSantis assured residents that an investigation for the diesel contamination is already being conducted.

He clarified that the fuel problem was caused by workers who accidentally put diesel in tanks that were supposed to have regular gasoline. The Florida governor explained that it would not be an issue if a gas-based vehicle is only filled with 10% diesel. But, if a whole diesel tank is poured, it would lead to major car issues.
