Stuart Milk, the nephew of the late gay activist Harvey Milk, sits next to a photograph of his uncle after a press conference announcing legislation to create a Harvey Milk Day in California on March 3, 2009, in San Francisco, California. Actor Sean Penn and California State Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) announced legislation.

According to NBC News' latest report, the Temecula Valley Unified School District's meeting led to jeers and shouts because community members confronted each other regarding the Harvey Milk-mentioning curriculum.

Because of the commotion created by teachers and parents, law enforcement authorities needed to escort three individuals from the five-hour hearing.

Before the ban happened, Joseph Komrosky, the president of the Temecula school board, called the gay rights figure pedophile.

Then, Komrosky ordered the school board to reject any supplemental materials that contain information about Harvey Milk from the state.

Other board members also agreed that the curriculum mentioning gay rights activities should be rejected in schools.

"I find the inclusion of sexually based topics and the glorification of a known pedophile who happened to be an advocate for gay rights to 10-year-olds morally reprehensible and inappropriate," said Danny Gonzalez, one of the board officials, via CNN.

Supporters hold signs with the image of slain San Francisco supervisor Harvey Milk during a rally at San Francisco City Hall on February 22, 2013, in San Francisco, California. Dozens of supporters staged a rally in front of San Francisco City Hall to support San Francisco supervisor David Campos's Harvey Milk SFO charter amendment that aims to change the name of the San Francisco International Airport to Harvey Milk SFO in honor of the Milk.

Many people were not happy with the decision made by the Temecula Valley Unified School District board.

Aside from parents, Gov. Gavin Newsom also explained why banning educational materials just for mentioning Harvey Milk is not a good idea.

He said that the cancel culture in Temecula already crossed the line. The official added that by rejecting the Harvey Milk-mentioning books, students will begin the school year without the tools they need.

Many Temecula residents also shared their disappointment. One of them is Skylar Tempel.

The resident said that the decision made by the Southern California school board is turning the platform into a partisan.
