Madonna, known as the Queen of Pop, was recently transferred to an intensive care unit (ICU) where she stayed for several days after suffering a serious bacterial infection.

Madonna, the Queen of Pop, was transferred to an intensive care unit (ICU) after suffering from a "serious bacterial infection" that forced the singer to cancel her tour.

The 64-year-old pop star was initially rushed to the hospital on Saturday, as revealed by her longtime talent manager Guy Oseary. The latter also noted that the dates of Madonna's Celebration World Tour would be rescheduled to later times depending on her health condition.

Madonna's Serious Bacterial Infection

In an Instagram post, Oseary said that Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection that led the Queen of Pop to stay in the ICU for several days. He noted that the singer's health was improving and that they expected a full recovery but added that she was still under medical care.

Previously, the pop star canceled a series of shows on her last tour in 2019 after suffering a knee injury, which caused her tour to end entirely early. Oseary said they would share more details about Madonna's condition as soon as they have them, as well as a new start date for the singer's tour and rescheduled shows, as Fox News.

Dr. Marc Siegel, a Fox News medical contributor, said that several different issues would cause concern and result in immediate action being taken. He said that the most common would be the possibility of pneumonia or a urinary infection that could spread to her blood and lungs.

The medical professional noted that a stay in the ICE was a "very serious" thing because it shows that a person was in a life-threatening situation. He noted that if the patient gets out, there is a good chance that they will recover.

It was in late 2020 when Madonna had her last health issue, which was when she underwent hip replacement surgery nearly a year after her knee injury. The Queen of Pop opened up about the surgery during an interview in 2021.

She said that she used to be a fitness or workout maniac, adding that she limped a lot during her 2019 Madame X tour. According to People, Madonna revealed that at the time, she was in more pain than she had ever been in her entire life.

The Queen of Pop's Health Condition

Madonna's recent health scare has also called into question various criticisms regarding her looks and lifestyle. Despite her success, many people mocked the Queen of Pop by making jokes about plastic surgery, her age-inappropriate outfits, and bizarre Instagram filters.

The singer's career started when she released her self-titled debut, which included "Borderline," "Lucky Star," and "Holiday," four decades ago, on July 27, 1983. Since then, the iconic pop star has delivered hit after hit, decade after decade, and made it impossible to imagine a world without her talent.

Throughout her stardom, Madonna has been seen as one of the biggest game-changing, rule-breaking forces in the history of pop music. Madonna is also the last survivor of the great '80s pop superstars, which included George Michael, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Whitney Houston, said the New York Post.
