An American Eagle Embraer E175 was struck by lightning as it was about to taxi into an airport in Arkansas.

An American Eagle Embraer E175 was struck by lightning after it landed during a thunderstorm in the US state of Arkansas Monday.

In a video reported by Viral Press, the man behind the camera has been recorded saying that while the lightning bolt did not hit the plane, "it still would have made an amazing video."

Seconds later, another flash hits the tail of the aircraft, causing people behind the cameraman to react loudly. A stream of sparks could also be seen coming off the tail.

Jason William Hamm, the man behind the footage, said the plane was "fine," "taxiing to the gate normally after an extended wait on the taxiway due to the storm." Technicians came to the plane after the passengers had gotten off to assess any damage done to the aircraft.

Another Thunderstruck Flight

The incident was the latest of multiple incidents of passenger planes being struck by lightning over US airspace.

In March, seven passengers were hospitalized after a Lufthansa Airlines Flight 469 from Austin to Frankfurt made an emergency landing in Washington DC after being struck by lightning. The plane plummeted 1,000 feet (305m) while the seatbelt sign was turned off.

The passengers during that flight panicked and screamed in terror after the plane hit a traumatic wave of turbulence at 37,000 feet (11,277.6m) while flying over Tennessee.
