India is already experiencing summer. The hot weather in the country is expected to last until the end of June or even July.

Based on Google's data, India's temperature can reach between 31 degree Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius.

Because of this, the South Asian country's health ministry decided to share tips on how residents can beat the heat.

MoHFW (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) of India shared its suggestions via its official Twitter post.

Those who are not used to extreme heat can be at risk; even faint while walking beneath the sun.

Extremely hot temperatures can cause heat exhaustion, dehydration, and heatstroke.

This is why it is important to know the things you can do to keep your body's temperature cool at all times during summer.

If you are living in India, here are the things you need to avoid in order to beat the heat this summer:

  • Avoid closing the doors. Instead, open them, as well as your windows, so that there will be enough ventilation inside your house, especially in the cooking area.
  • During peak summer hours, avoid cooking. If you have the budget, just get your food delivered in the meantime.
  • You must also avoid eating high protein food and stake food.
  • If you love drinking coffee, tea, and carbonated soft drinks, then you need to avoid this summer. MoHFW also urges Indian residents to avoid drinking alcohol. Health experts warned that these beverages can lead to body fluid loss.

Beating the Heat Without AC

Aside from the tips provided by MoHFW, there are other habits you need to practice during the summer. 

These safety practices can help you beat the heat, even if your house doesn't have any AC: 

  • Always use cold compresses whenever your body feels like it's overheating. 
  • Wear clothes appropriate during summer. Avoid jackets or coats. 
  • Drink plenty of water.
